An Introduction to Scotch Whisky and American Whiskey
Ever notice that Scotch is Whisky, while Bourbon or Rye are Whiskey?
Ever wonder how they’re made - what they all have in common and and how they differ?
Walking into a well-stocked liquor store or bar, the labels can be overwhelming. And beyond just choosing one, how can you know which ones offer good value for money, which to drink before dinner and which after, which to water, which to put over ice, and which to take as they come? You’ll be amazed at how much you can tell even before tasting if you know what to look for. Just as with wine, regional styles are distinct and reflect regional agriculture, tradition, laws and terroir.
We’ll sample, take a quick tour of representative spirits from Scotland and America, and discuss what’s going on to make these products so surprisingly varied. This introduction, will provide a delicious and sound foundation for further exploration and development of your own taste preferences in the fascinating world of whiskey.
RSVP required for this event, and it is 21+ only. RSVP covers tasting and instruction. Food and other drinks can be purchased separately.
